**UPDATE** July 2019: We are sad to announce that the Little Family Tree app has been discontinued. Thank you to all those families who enjoyed the app!
Looking for a family history activity for your Thanksgiving celebration? Well, here is something new to try! We have recently released GenQuizitive Live, a family history quiz game you play together as a group.
Play GenQuizitive After the Feast
With the holidays approaching, families will gather to feast, celebrate, and create new memories. These family gatherings are also a prime time to remember our family history and pass the legacy on to the next generation.
GenQuizitive is an easy way to get the whole family involved in a quick, competitive family history game. GenQuizitive is a fun genealogy quiz game that helps families learn more about their family history as they play together.
How GenQuizitive Works
We created GenQuizitive Live so that one person in the family (the genealogist like you) could create a game and anyone and everyone else in the family can join the game and play along. The person who creates the game will login to their FamilySearch account, allowing the game to use data from your online tree. Then you select the branch of the tree you want to quiz on. So, if you are gathering with your Grandma Betty’s side of the family, you can select that branch to quiz on.
Then you can adjust the number of questions, the difficulty level, and whether or not you want to include questions about living family members. Hit publish and you will be given a Game ID. Share this Game ID with the members of your family so they can join in on their own device. The game will work on laptops, tablets and smartphones.
Play and Enjoy
That is as simple as it is! Once all the family members have joined the game, the game creator will hit play and the quiz commences. Have fun answering questions about photos, names, dates, places and the structure of the family tree. If your family is like ours, the quiz will bring out everyone’s friendly competitive spirit and they will want to continue for several rounds. The quizzes usually also inspire questions… so be prepared to chat about the different ancestors that you quiz about. (Not a hard task for us genealogists!)
