    • Alexis, It will be great to see you again at RootsTech. I hope you can make it to my class during the last session on Thursday. Thanks for entering the giveaway and good luck!

  2. I have done 4 of the 5 entries! I’m looking forward to classes by my favorite presenters and the expo hall! And this year my husband wants to join me😁

    • Vicki, my husband will be joining me this year, too. How fun! It is like a week-long date night. Thanks for entering the giveaway and best of luck!

  3. I completed all 5 tasks. I am looking forward to RootsTech because it will be my first time attending.

    • Sheri, Thanks for entering the giveaway. I think you will love RootsTech. It is a whirlwind of learning and fun. Best of luck!

  4. Rootstech would be fun! I haven’t been to Rootstech for a couple years. One thing I didn’t like about it last time was the product pusher classes. When I used to travel & teach for Provo Craft that’s what we did & why we taught classes. But we always tried to teach a general technique & inspire people to scrapbook. I came home from Rootstech 2 years ago not liking family history – there was no inspiration, no heart. Especially those product pusher classes!

My favorite class I took was a military class by Anne Mitchell from ancestry. She was awesome! informative, yet inspirational. She talked about lots of places to find military records & her experience researching her military ancestor, all while pushing fold3 probably, but it didn’t feel that way.

I love to learn anything family history – just bring the heart. And if you bash another company – you lost me! You don’t corner the market on using the internet to research your family tree. Lol.

Also, better descriptions would be super helpful for the classes.

You’re amazing! You will do great & I would come to your classes cause it’s you!

    • Staci, I am sad to hear you had a poor experience last time! I hope this year’s description are very clear about which classes are sponsored. It would be fabulous to have your friendly face in my class. Best of luck and thanks for entering the giveaway!

  5. I went to RootsTech last year for the first time and had a blast. I look forward to going to the exhibit hall and seeing my favorite genealogists!

    • The exhibit hall and interacting with other genealogists are some of my favorites, too! Thanks for entering, and best of luck!

  6. Apart from the amazing sessions, I will be excited to hear Brandon from HoNY, AND meeting so many people I’ve had the privilege to come to know in the genealogical community through social media networking.

    • I hope to meet you there. I love turning “virtual friends” into “real-life friends.” Thanks for entering the giveaway. Good luck!

  7. I have entered all 5 ways. I am excited to explore the exhibit hall and go to classes and connect with all the amazing people who attend. I feel like if I learn one new tip or trick it is always worth going to a conference like Rootstech! Hoping I win! So excited!

    • Thanks for entering the giveaway and best of luck! I hope you are able to learn lots of new things at RootsTech! I am excited too. It is my favorite conference of the year.

  8. I am looking forward to learning about the amazing technology to help us build our family trees!

    • I am interested to see how the new Innovation Showcase works. Technology has sure made genealogy research easier over the years! Thanks for entering the giveaway, Julie. Best of luck!

  9. Thanks for tagging me. I would love the push to get started on what I know I needed to do. Also the knowledge how. 😁

    • RootsTech would be a great place to get inspired and the knowledge you need to get started! If you don’t win a full pass, consider registering for the free Family Discovery Day portion of RootsTech that will be held on the last day, Saturday. Thanks for entering the sweepstakes and best of luck!

  10. I love Roots Tech, not only for the endless classes and subjects to learn about but for the great networking opportunities!

    • Susan, networking is one of the best things at RootsTech, isn’t it? I can’t wait to see my genea-friends there, and meet new ones, too. Thanks for entering the giveaway. Good luck!

  11. I’m most looking forward to just soaking in the atmosphere that is RootsTech! I love the speakers, the general session, and all the awesome attendees of all walks of life!

    • “Soaking in the atmosphere that is RootsTech” That is a great way to describe it! Thanks for entering the giveaway, Julie. Good luck!

  12. I’m most excited to meet bloggers and researchers I’ve been listening to in the many podcasts I listen to on a weekly basis. I’m a people person, and making face-to-face connections is so exciting! Plus, hanging out with other researchers – people who are as excited as this 30 year old is about genealogy – is going to be a blast!

    • Sam, what are some of your favorite blogs and podcasts? I am always adding to my own list that I read and listen to. The social aspect of RootsTech is my #1 favorite, too! Thanks for entering the giveaway and good luck!

      • My favorite podcasts are Extreme Genes, Genealogy Guys, Genealogy Gems, and Research at the National Archives. I learn so much each episode, feel more connected to the wider community, and am always inspired to keep at it!

  13. Melissa, I come from Australia to RootsTech along with a number of Aussie bloggers and family history fanatics so I always look forward to catching up with them, the so many others I meet sitting next to people in talks, in the crowded halls and and other times to talk family history.
Fran ( I did all the follows except Instagram as I was already following you.)

  14. Melissa, Thanks for this chance to win a pass to #RootsTech2018
I’ve been before, not for the last couple of years, and would love to go again. I really enjoy the classes, especially the ones on DNA as that is such a complicated topic. The more help I get on understand it, the better. I love the Expo Hall and Keynotes speeches too! It also super fun to connect with my genealogy online friends IRL!

    • DNA is such a treasure trove in genealogy right now! I need to learn more about it, too. We have a family mystery that we think we have solved with DNA, but I am not quite sure how to compile all the evidence into proof of this relationship.
I hope you get a chance to attend again this year. Thank you for entering the giveaway. Best of luck!

  15. Melissa I have entered all 5 ways. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Rootstech and really hope I win so that I can go this year. Sometimes being there is difficult because I am shy about starting conversations with people. BUT the knowledge I come away with every year is out of this world! I am hoping if I am able to attend I will do a better job of talking to people since I will have a natural ice breaker with me. I will have my service dog. Because she is an unusual breed and very beautiful I find conversations happening on a regular basis.

    • Jacqui, I would love to meet you and your service dog at RootsTech 2018. I hope you get to attend. Isn’t RootsTech phenomenal? It usually takes me several weeks after the conference to absorb everything I learned there. Thank you for connecting with me on all the social channels. Best of luck in the giveaway!

  16. I am not able to go this year due to moving and buying a mobile home that had more issues than we were lead to believe. So, by winning a ticket would be wonderful

    • Lori, I am sorry to hear that your year has been rough. I hope things get better going forward. Thank you for entering the giveaway. Best of luck! If you cannot go in person, be sure to catch the streamed sessions from home.

  17. Debra Yonker-Hecht

good morning. I have enjoyed learning about your webpage and your contributions. As a fairly new professional genealogist, I would really like to experience RootsTech; I have heard so many wonderful comments.! Perhaps this will be my year!

    • Congratulations on entering the genealogy profession, Debra. I would enjoy hearing how you became a professional sometime. I think RootsTech would be a fabulous experience for you. Thank you for entering the giveaway and best of luck!

  18. What a great way to promote your excellent blog, Melissa! Thanks for the RootsTech contest! Just looked at the session schedule and their first class listing is “That First Trip to the Courthouse.” Just what I need! With Judy Russell’s encouragement, I’ve started to delve into court records, and that class is just what I need right now.

    • Annie, thank you for the compliment on the blog. The “Courthouse” class looks excellent. I hope it helps you continue your journey into court records. The class choices are always so great I have a hard time narrowing it down to one class per hour! Thank you for entering the giveaway, and best of luck!

  19. I’m looking forward to discount pricing on DNA Tests. My wife and I attended RootsTech for the first time last year and it was GREAT! Lots of outstanding information!!

    • I am also looking forward to the DNA discounts. My college-aged daughter has become interested and asked me to pick up a DNA test for her, too! Thanks for entering the giveaway. Good luck!

  20. I’m really looking forward to being surrounded by people that are obsessed with genealogy like I am!

  21. WooHoo! I entered five times. So happy to be following you in so many places. I can hardly believe that with seven children you have any time for genealogy. You must be a super mom! I am very much looking forward to going to RootsTech this year. My hubby and I went in 2015 and I was overwhelmed with all the knowledge presented. This time I am wiser! I am looking foward to four days and Innovation Alley. I love what the tech world has done for genealogy. Hope to meet you there!

    • Amanda, I am very happy to have you as a Genea-Friend. My children (and husband) are very understanding about my Eat-Sleep-Breathe-Genealogy passion! And, they often participate with me which makes it fun. 🙂 Even knowing what a deluge RootsTech is, I think it takes me a week or two to “recover” and soak up all the goodness I learned there. It will be great to meet in person at RootsTech 2018.
