The Workshop

Allison Kimball and Rhonna Farrer are the creators behind the workbook and are the featured presenters for the Light Keepers event.

The workshop experience helps participates learn how to access the power of family history in their lives to fortify their lives and homes; all through stories. It’s designed to help the participate see their family history in new and creative ways. This event is particularly helpful for those who have had the desire to do family history but just didn’t know whereto start and what to do.

The workshop focuses on four areas:

·        FamilySearch
·        The Ministry of Angels
·        My Family: Stories That Bring Us Together
·        Sacrifice and Blessings
·        Temple and Covenants

DISCOVER … the What

·        One Tree, My Tree
·        Partner Apps and Resources
·        Indexing: Not Forgotten
·        Research
·        Records
·        Oral Histories
·        On the Go: Micro Tasks

STRENGTHEN … the Who

·        Photographs
·        The Power of Stories
·        Finding Stories in the Records
·        Journals
·        Histories and Biographies
·        Accepting the Invitation
·        Family and Food Roots

GATHER … the How

·        Family Tree Gatherings
·        Gatherings: Online
·        Historical Connections
·        Simple Celebrations
·        Tangible Memories
·        The Sabbath Is a Delight
·        One Great Work

The workbook follows these areas and is filled with prompts and space for participants to write down their own personal thoughts as they begin their own journey with family history.

If you have had family history on your mind, but are not sure how to begin or if this is the season of your life to start, I encourage you to attend this inspiring event! If you know a woman who could benefit by attending, please share this with her.

Cordial Genealogy Wishes,

  1. I signed up for Rootstech and Light keepers but didn’t get the facebook group code. Do you have the group name or link?

    • Esther, I do not have that information, but I have sent out a query on the Ambassador group. I will get back with you when I hear something from them.

  2. Is the program/workbook available to women who are not LDS members?
Is it possible to access online? Have just started researching the steps to start the journey.

    • Pamela, I do not believe the workbook is available outside of attendees at the conference. I am checking in with those that ran the workshop to find out for sure. If I find a way for you to get one, I will let you know. I wish you the best in your research journey! The Family History Guide is an free, online resource that can help you get started: https://www.thefhguide.com/

  3. I would like to purchase the workbook. I hope it is available.

    • Jean,
I was not involved with the 2020 Light Keepers event. Please contact someone from the event directly about a workbook. Good luck!
      Melissa
